- A new gallery space.
- The smell of clean and ironed clothes.
- An evening of tasty food, good conversation and mindless movies.
- Roni Horn's Pink Tons.
- The moon lighting a cloudless spot in the sky, shining through skeletal winter trees.
Saturday 7 March 2009
Friday 6 March 2009
- 8am sunshine that felt like a UMass morning.
- Catching the bus home. Relatedly, being back in the flat by 6.50 - unheard of, and wonderful.
- Reading on the tube.
- Minxy - the word, the sentiment.
- Freesias. We always have fresh flowers, and this week it's freesias. I love freesias.
Thursday 5 March 2009
- A folder, accidentally abandoned, speedily retrieved.
- Waking up, curled in a big white bed to views of a sunlit Covent Garden, followed by a half hour stroll to the office, coffee in hand. The perfect commute.
- Smirking at the disapproving men in a poorly-chosen pub, and then gleefully exacerbating the situation.
- Perfect timing.
- Cherry red DMs.
Wednesday 4 March 2009
- A sweet card in the post (and shoes, returned).
- A chatty maternal phone call, with good advice.
- A battered sausage. Filth.
- A JCB digger crossing Westminster Bridge, spotted underneath Big Ben.
Tuesday 3 March 2009
- A pleasing combination of clothes (stripes and satin and yellow and patent leather).
- Peppercorn sauce and chips.
- Leaving halfway through.
- The Good Terrorist.
- The sound of rain against the windows - when I'm curled up inside, warm and dry.
Monday 2 March 2009
- Popping in, unexpectedly, to a book launch, only to discover that the artist was someone I'd seen in Berlin and really liked.
- Good chatter with a new person and a familiar friend, in a Spitalfields pub that I've walked past a hundred times before.
- Walking along the river in daylight.
- Kissing a smooth-shaved cheek at the end of the night.
- A cream cheese bagel bought and eaten on the hop in Brick Lane, despite the skinny hipped jeans.
Sunday 1 March 2009
- An escaped orange balloon floating into a peach-streaked sunset, across the Thames.
- A couple of hours in a comfy chair, red wine in hand, reading fiction.
- An unexpectedly fun conversation over coffee.
- Double Indemnity.
- Watching day break, listening to the dawn chorus. Insomnia can have its upsides.
